What Should I Expect in my first visit?
In a typical first Acupuncture treatment, I will evaluate your health history by asking questions about your symptoms and going over your health history intake form. I will look at your tongue and take your pulse.
The color and texture of the tongue can show how the body is functioning. I believe the pulse, tongue and facial color are similar to the stem, leaf, and flower of a plant. It would be a temporary solution, if I just spray the leaves or cut them out. Chinese Medicine treats not just your symptoms, but you as a whole.
For example, darkness around the eyes is a kidney unbalance, a redness of the nose is a lung unbalance and a yellowish coloring around mouth is a spleen deficiency.
Patients would left for 25-40 minutes,Many patients lie under heat lamp while soft music plays. Many patients fall sleep induced by body’s release of endorphins. Most patients do not feel anything except relaxation during the treatment.
Does Needle hurt?
Only disposable needles are used. Acupuncture needles are regulated and approved by the F.D.A. The needles are as fine as a human hair and are tapped in through a tiny tube. I cater to most sensitive patients with a gentle technique. Most people don’t feel the insertion of needles, but during the treatment may feel achy or tingling sensation which is associated with movement of energy.
How Many Visit Do I Need & How Frequent?
The number and frequency of treatments varies depending upon one’s health history, the severity and duration of conditions, aggravating factors, and your body’s response to treatment. Many begin to feel better and sleep better after the first Acupuncture treatment. For conditions such as cold or flu, 1-2 treatments, acute pain 3-5 treatments and for more chronic you may need 8-12 treatments to see result. After your first treatment, I will evaluate your condition and improvement and suggest treatment plan.
