What is Moxibustion?
Moxibustion is an ancient healing practice and in combination with Acupuncture dramatically increase the effectiveness of treatment. Abnormal flow of Qi and blood can cause stagnation and illnesses. Moxaibustion made out of an herb called, Artemisia Vulgaris and a species of chrysanthemum. The herb compacted into a cigar (see image) and practitioner would hold it 1- 2 inches above skin at certain acupuncture points. It warm meridians and induce smooth flow of Qi and blood.
Clinical and many studies have proved moxibustion on specific Acupuncture points can prevent diseases and strengthen immune system. What is Cupping Therapy?
Cupping is another ancient healing practice which enhances Acupuncture treatment and have great therapeutic value. Glass jar attached to skin surface (see image) to cause local congestion and invigorate Qi and blood. It’s function is warming and promoting the free flow of Qi and blood, dispelling cold and dampness, diminishing swellings and pains.
In ancient time, the animal horn was used to dispel pus. Bamboo jar were used in China in past because of availability and more economical.
